KING’S Lynn racer Robert Lambert is gearing up for the European Championship next week.

This comes after organisers of the series decided to make a complete overhaul of the schedule for this season with Poland hosting all five rounds starting in Torun on July 4.

With the qualifiers and challenge cancelled amid the Covid-19 pandemic European Championship bosses opted to select the line-up based on past results in the series which meant that Lambert will be making a welcome return to the competition for the third straight season.

He said: “It was disappointing to miss out on the top five of the European Championship last year and I did want to do the qualifiers but obviously everything changed with the pandemic.

“I’m very excited to be back in the series, though, and having it all go ahead is great as two months ago the prospect of any racing this year was not looking good. I hope by next month the fans will be able to come to the stadium and the rest of the speedway world can watch on the TV.”
