ALLITT - LAMBERT SUCCESS A BIG BOOST

Friday August 14, 2020
KING’S Lynn co-promoter Dale Allitt believes Robert Lambert’s stunning success in Poland is a big boost for British Speedway.

Lambert is the new European Champion and he now qualifies to be a fully-fledged Grand Prix rider next year.

Allitt felt personally proud when seeing Lambert win the title after working closely with him from when he first raced for the Young Stars at National League level in 2013.

And he said: “Robert’s success is a massive boost for British Speedway and us here at King’s Lynn particular.

“To have a British rider as European Champion is wonderful and I think it’s thoroughly deserved. The only downside is we haven’t yet been able to welcome him back to King’s Lynn to celebrate yet.

“I think he’s riding better than at any other time I’ve seen him in his career and it’s brilliant to see.

“It’s nice to see him qualify for the Grand Prix series which is a fantastic achievement. I know he’s got some experience at that level because he was first reserve and Greg Hancock withdrew so he had a lot of laps in the series last year, but this is the first time he will be a fully qualified GP rider.

“I’m sure he will do very well next year. Hopefully at some stage in October we will be able to see Robert riding here at King’s Lynn if we can stage a meeting.”

King’s Lynn are interested in staging some racing if fans are allowed into the stadium at elite sport level in October, as has been suggested with football.

Lambert is due back in the UK at the end of October for the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations as he seems certain to partner Tai Woffinden in the pairs event at Belle Vue.
