LAMBERT VOWS TO CHASE GB GOLD

Friday August 21, 2020
KING’S Lynn ace Robert Lambert has vowed to do all he can to help Great Britain to glory in the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations.

Lambert, who is enjoying the best form of his career in Poland, is expected to be selected by bosses Olly Allen and Simon Stead for the World Pairs event at Belle Vue on October 24 and 25.

They’ll be up against reigning champions Russia, Poland, Australia, Sweden, Denmark and Czech Republic at the National Speedway Stadium.

“It should be a great occasion and if I’m selected I’ll be giving it my all,” said the Norfolk racer. “We should go into it in a good position and I’ll do all I can to help us win silverware, hopefully gold!

“If we can put two good performances together there is no reason why we cannot achieve something big.

“But this is speedway and we know anything can happen. If we are focused and prepared properly then there’s no reason why we can’t achieve success.”

The Speedway of Nations replaced the former Speedway World Cup competition as a pairs format and qualifying rounds were scrapped this year due to the pandemic.

A decision was then made to seed the seven nations straight through to finals weekend with team riding vital for success.

Meanwhile King’s Lynn bosses have confirmed they are firmly interested in hosting racing before the end of October.

Co-promoter Dale Allitt was a keen observer at Scunthorpe for their staging of the British Youth Championship with a restricted crowd – all tickets were snapped up.

He has confirmed the fourth round of the series on Sunday week, August 30, and would also like to give European Champion Lambert a homecoming to the Adrian Flux Arena with a meeting in October.

Plans are also at the discussion stage for a British Final although this would be in September which means only home based riders could compete. It is unlikely to be at Lynn.
