BIG DAY FOR STARS

Friday August 28, 2020
KING’S Lynn owner Keith Chapman is hoping the return of competitive racing this Sunday will be a big boost to fans.

The club are hosting round three of the British Youth Championship which will include recent club recruit Elliot Kelly. A restricted number of fans are permitted for what is classed as a grassroots event and tickets have been selling well on the club’s website.

Said Chapman: “It’s been a dreadful time for everyone and I’m hoping Sunday will be a boost for everyone.

“The very fact that we are hosting a speedway event at the stadium is a major achievement for us all and it means a hectic weekend getting things ready with other events on as well.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the youngsters and their families. I’m told the previous two rounds at Scunthorpe and Leicester were excellent and hopefully we’ll have something similar on Sunday.

“We’ve had a good response to ticket sales despite the fact that a youth meeting is a long way from what our fans are used to watching. I think people are just keen to get out and watch some racing.

“We’ll see how Sunday goes and if we have no problems and it all works out well then I wouldn’t rule out more meetings this season, but we’ll have to see about that.

“I know Dale Allitt (co-promoter) is keen to get a meeting on in October to welcome back Robert Lambert after his European title win in Poland.

“We as a club take great pride in Robert’s achievement because he’s been with us since riding for our National League team seven years ago.

“He’s a prime example of why I was happy to go ahead with Sunday’s meeting because we want to see the talented group of youngsters we have in this country.”

Tickets remain on sale at kingslynn-speedway.com and there will also be a souvenir shop selling King’s Lynn 2020 team wear. Drinks and food will also be available and fans are reminded to wear face coverings.
