KING’S Lynn skipper Lewis Kerr has revealed how lockdown brings back memories of injuries.

And he’s urging anyone who struggles during time in isolation or is inactive to speak to somebody to ease their mind.

Kerr has suffered multiple injuries in his eventful career and has spent months on the sidelines recovering – often cut off from the outside world.

Now Kerr, who is winning new admirers for his impressive outlook on life, has a clear message for everyone heading into a second lockdown.

He said: “My state of mind has been kind of ready for lockdown following my lengthy lay-offs.

“I had to endure time away from everything due to my two big injuries. It wasn’t easy spending weeks and months wondering when I would be able to ride again. It definitely has made me stronger.

“For me it possibly has helped me get through all this now but I can see how many people have and are suffering from being down. I would encourage anyone who is feeling low just to talk to someone close.”

Kerr has also confirmed he plans to stay with his local club in 2021 and double-up with second tier Eastbourne.

And he would welcome the opportunity of racing on the continent as he feels ready for the challenge.

“I certainly will be taking on both leagues again and I may even look at riding abroad if the right deal came about,” he said.

“It’s a big step but one I’m prepared to take but it would have to work for me and I would have to be set up properly.

“If nothing comes on offer then I wouldn’t mind a few open meetings in Europe next season.”

All seven Premiership clubs have signalled their intention to be at the tapes again next year and club bosses are already working on a potential fixture list. The promoters met on a zoom call this week.

In line with other sports like lower level Rugby League including the likes of Bradford Bulls and York City Knights, speedway is planning to launch the 2021 season in April subject to fans returning to venues. Behind closed doors racing is not an option although a live streaming service proved popular in the Belle Vue events.
