KING’S LYNN suffered a heavy 58-32 defeat in the A47 derby at Peterborough on Monday.

The Minors and Brady Stars were in high spirits on the back of a dramatic turnaround at Ipswich last Thursday, but were unable to add to those first Premiership points of the season.

The Adrian Flux Arena outfit were rocked by the loss of skipper Lewis Kerr on Sunday who sustained a broken collarbone whilst on second tier duty with Eastbourne.

And despite the introductions of new signings Ricky Wells and Connor Mountain, they were unable to make any real impression on a tricky night all-round.

Richard Lawson and Thomas Jorgensen both achieved double figures with Wells winning his opening ride on his way to a steady six points.

Ty Proctor found speed as the evening progressed while Connor Mountain found himself in better positions along the way than his single point may suggest.

It was a rare pointless night for No.1 Erik Riss - but team boss Peter Schroeck is confident the German will bounce back even stronger.

“Erik in particular was struggling with the set-up,” Schroeck said.

“He’s a very deep thinker as well and he just couldn’t get comfortable out there.

“Everybody knows he’s no slouch though, we all know what he’s capable of and he’ll be back in the big points very soon I have no doubt about that at all.

“It was a very tough evening for us altogether though.

“I can’t knock the boys for not trying, we just could not find the right set-ups.

“It was just one of those nights unfortunately but we’ve got a week and bit now to dust ourselves down, recover and show what we’re worth at home a week on Thursday.”

The Stars are back in action at the Adrian Flux Arena on Thursday, June 17 (7.30) against Premiership newcomers Sheffield.
