STARS SWOOP FOR AUSSIE ACE

Wednesday June 23, 2021
KING’S Lynn have agreed a deal with Aussie racer Cameron Heeps who will join the club on Thursday July 1.

This comes after Ty Proctor asked to be left out of the Minors and Brady Stars side.

Heeps joins after being released by Anglia rivals Ipswich following a shoulder injury sustained in the defeat against Lynn three weeks ago.

And it’s hoped the 25-year-old can replicate his form from 2019 where he scored paid-30 from three meetings at the Adrian Flux Arena.

“I'm so excited to be back in the Premiership with King's Lynn,” said Heeps.

“They're a steady side now after making changes and I fit the bill for them so it's spot on now. Hopefully I can improve the team and we can get plenty more wins for the fans.

“It's a compact season with teams having to be ruthless because we're all there to win trophies. If you’re not winning matches then things have got to be done.

“I was gutted to be dropped by Ipswich but you have to forget about those things and move on with a new beginning at King’s Lynn which I’m excited about.

“I rode with Richard Lawson at Foxhall last year and then I rode with Ricky Wells at Edinburgh as well. You then add Lewi (Kerr), Thomas Jorgensen and Erik Riss in there too with speedway being a small world, we're all a close community so we all know each other.”

A thrilled Stars boss Peter Schroeck added: “Following the decision that Ty made it was a no-brainer for us to bring Cam in because we all know what he is capable of. When he rode for the Witches he was part of their success reaching the Grand Final of the play-offs.“Cam gets on well with all of our guys and he loves the King’s Lynn track too. It’s another good signing for the club and I hope the fans can see that we mean business as we look to push on.

“He could have come back from injury a little bit earlier than he has but Cam had to make sure he was a 100 per cent fit. It might take one or two meetings for him to settle in completely but I’m sure he’ll make an impact.”

American ace Broc Nicol deputises for Proctor in Thursday night’s clash with Belle Vue at the Adrian Flux Arena.
