RAIN PAIN FOR STARS SKIPPER

Friday August 20, 2021
LEWIS Kerr fell agonisingly short of a race-off spot in the British Final at Belle Vue – after an impressive showing.

And he admits rain late on in the meeting cost him as he was left one-point short after carding a nine-point total.

It was a thrilling night of racing in front of a big National Speedway Stadium crowd and the watching viewers on Eurosport.

Said Kerr: “I loved the track, the rain came at the wrong time for me.

“I’m disappointed to miss out by a point. I had two gate fours and that didn’t help me. We gave our all, we enjoyed it and it’s a strong field but there’s next year.”

Kerr is happy with the way his form has held up as the season has got busier.

He added: “Yeah, my last few meetings here have been really good so we sort of knew what set up to have from that again.

“Like I said those two gate fours were hard work. Getting in the roost was like putting a brake on, it was difficult but never mind.”

Kerr will be back in Manchester to lead the Minors and Brady Stars into action on Monday as they approach the end of a troubled league season.

With track specialist Richard Lawson in the Stars side they should be able to put up a respectable display but the Aces are a powerful side on their own track.

Stars now need to find a new date for the Sheffield home meeting after Thursday's clash was rained off despite extensive track work after a heavy downpour.
