ONE LAST TRIP FOR STARS

Saturday September 25, 2021
KING’S Lynn wrap up their 2021 season when they visit Premiership play-off qualifiers Sheffield on Sunday (5pm).

The Minors & Brady Stars’ attentions have already switched to next year and re-establishing the club as title contenders, but they are also keen to end on a high in South Yorkshire.

Their previous visit to Owlerton in July saw them go agonisingly close to an away win before Tigers duo Adam Ellis and Kyle Howarth combined for a 5-1 in the last race for a 46-44 victory.

The hosts are building up to a play-off semi-final against Roses rivals Belle Vue next week, but regular captain Howarth misses the meeting as a match for his Championship side Leicester at Glasgow takes priority.

That means both sides operate rider-replacement, with the Stars doing likewise at No.1, whilst they await cover in the reserve position alongside former Sheffield rider Kasper Andersen, following Connor Mountain’s crash at Newcastle last weekend.

Manager Alex Brady said: “We went well there last time, and we aim to do the same again this Sunday and hopefully go one better!
“Then it’s going to be a long winter of planning, and hopefully a much stronger year to come than in 2021.

“We’re using r/r on Sunday because Glasgow being re-scheduled for Sunday really shut the door on a guest, especially with the play-offs then starting the next day as well.”

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson R/R, Ben Barker, Erik Riss, Lewis Kerr, Thomas Jorgensen, TBC, Kasper Andersen.
