STARS v WOLVERHAMPTON, PREVIEW

Wednesday July 13, 2022
KING’S Lynn face their biggest match of the season when they take on Wolverhampton at the Adrian Flux Arena on Thursday (7.30pm).

The Minors & Brady Stars are on the rebound from a heavy defeat at Belle Vue on Monday and know they simply cannot afford to drop more points against a team currently in the top four.

Wolves suffered their own wobble of late when they lost at home to Ipswich, but they got back on track with victory at Peterborough on Monday to solidify their position in the play-offs.

They dropped eight points down early on at the East of England Arena but roared back to win 48-42 with four 5-1s in the space of five races – which will be a reminder to the Stars that not only do they need to start well, but they also need to maintain momentum and make the correct set-up changes during the meeting.

Wolves operate rider replacement for skipper Sam Masters, who is ruled out with a foot injury after racing through the pain barrier in recent weeks.

The hosts also remain a six-man unit with rider replacement the only realistic option to cover for the absent Niels-Kristian Iversen, on a night where all six Premiership clubs are in action.

Work continues behind the scenes to address the gap in the side, and the club should be in a position to confirm their intentions by Thursday night.

In the meantime, boss Alex Brady is urging supporters to keep the faith and be the vital seventh man in another tough home meeting.

He said: “It’s hard being a King's Lynn fan at the moment and I can assure you that I and the rest of the club feel that same pain, and we’re desperate to put it right.

“The amount of hours and money put in to try and do this have been massive, and I can only apologise that it’s not worked so far.

“Wolves are packed full of experience and riders who have shown a liking for our track in the past.

“We know we’ll need all six of our riders on their A game to stand any chance of getting the three points we so desperately need to break free of this rut we are in.”
