SHEFFIELD 50 STARS 40

KING’S LYNN missed out on a consolation league point on the last lap of the last race at Sheffield.

The Minors and Brady Stars were eventually beaten 50-40 in South Yorkshire and were just moments away from heading back to Norfolk with something for their brave efforts.

Richie Worrall led Tobiasz Musielak and Jack Holder, who had won his previous four rides, but the pair produced a fine move on the final lap to deny Alex Brady’s men.

It was a tight tussle with play-off bound Sheffield with only two points separating the sides with five races to go.

The hosts pulled clear though with three straight advantages before boss Brady nominated skipper Josh Pickering as a tactical substitute in Heat 14.

He teamed up with Worrall for a 5-1 to keep their hopes of adding another league point to their tally.

But Lynn were again left licking their wounds on, ultimately, another night of frustration on their travels.

Said Brady: “It’s disappointing to come away without anything to show for our efforts - but it was a brilliant effort from the boys really.

“They fought hard, they dug in and it just ran away from us a little bit at the end.

“I felt after Heat 14 with the 5-1 that we had that we could get a league point but it wasn’t to be unfortunately.

“After their performance here last time, who’d have predicted only ten points between Nicolai (Klindt) and Thomas (Jorgensen) but it’s a team game and as a seven we weren’t strong enough tonight.”

King’s Lynn are back at the Adrian Flux Arena next Thursday (September 22, 7.30) when they host Wolverhampton.

SHEFFIELD 50: Jack Holder 14+1, Tobiasz Musielak 9+3, Adam Ellis 8, Lewis Kerr 6+2, Justin Sedgmen 5, Connor Mountain 5, Kyle Howarth 3+1.
KING’S LYNN 40: Josh Pickering 13+1, Richard Lawson 9, Richie Worrall 6+2, Nicolai Klindt 5, Thomas Jorgensen 5, Leon Flint 2, Jack Smith 0.
