SHEFFIELD v STARS, CUP FINAL PREVIEW

Wednesday September 28, 2022
FREDERIK Jakobsen wants to deliver a big silver thank you to everyone at King’s Lynn by overcoming Sheffield in the Premiership League Cup final.

The Minors & Brady Stars head to Owlerton for Thursday’s first leg (7.30) with Jakobsen fresh from five wins out of six races on his return to action last week.

The Dane had been suffering with a neck injury but quickly made an impact on board his new engine with 16+1 in the 63-27 win over Wolverhampton.

And he hopes to keep the smiles on the faces of the King’s Lynn faithful this week having been given a hearty welcome in Norfolk.

“Winning the final would mean a lot to the team, the fans and the club and we are racing to win,” he said.

“Alex (Brady, team manager) has been telling me all the time that I need to help the team win some silverware and I have to say a big thank you to him for bringing me in.

"It was a big risk for him to take but I feel really good and have been made to feel so welcome. I thank everyone here for making my experience better and helping me to perform on the track and I hope I can help bring home the cup for everyone here.”

Jason Edwards returns in the Rising Star berth having come through Sunday’s National Development League Riders’ Championship at Scunthorpe unscathed with 13 points and a third-place finish.

King’s Lynn’s top six is unchanged in terms of personnel and riding order and Sheffield will track a full one-to-seven.

The second leg at the Adrian Flux Arena had been due to take place on Monday, October 3 but Sheffield’s play-off commitments now take precedence after their match at Wolverhampton on Monday was rained off before a wheel had turned. A new date will be announced in due course.

KING’S LYNN: Nicolai Klindt, Thomas Jorgensen, Josh Pickering, Richie Worrall, Richard Lawson, Frederik Jakobsen, Jason Edwards.
