PREVIEW: STARS v BELLE VUE

Sunday October 23, 2022
KING’S Lynn round off their Premiership campaign with the visit of newly-crowned champions Belle Vue to the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday (7.30pm).

The Aces secured a dramatic title triumph against Sheffield earlier this month to win the top-flight crown for the first time since way back in 1993.

This will be their first on-track outing since that success, and their line-up includes King’s Lynn favourite Robert Lambert, who joined them at the end of the season as a replacement for long-term injury victim Max Fricke.

Lambert came through the ranks at the AFA, starting in the club’s National League side in 2013, and has now progressed into an out-and-out World star, having finished fifth overall in this year’s Grand Prix series.

Elsewhere, the Aces also include heat-leaders Brady Kurtz and Matej Zagar, with rider replacement in operation for the injured Charles Wright. Simon Lambert, a familiar face at the AFA, guests at reserve for Jye Etheridge.

The Minors & Brady Stars are at full strength and are keen to finish on a high, especially following the disappointment of last week’s League Cup home defeat to Sheffield. A new date for the second leg of that Final is still awaited.

Stars boss Alex Brady said: “I have to admit, I have a massive amount of jealousy because I would have loved it to have been us, but Mark Lemon and his boys, in my opinion, deserved to win the title.

“For me, they've been the best side we faced all season long, and I'm told that the Final was an excellent meeting - something I personally couldn't bring myself to watch!

“It will be great to see Robert back, but we obviously want to win to put some gloss on what’s been a tricky season, full of ups and downs.

“Monday night gives us a chance to try and send the fans home happy. It’s a long winter without the sport so hopefully as many can come as they can, and we can have a good end to the season.”

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Thomas Jorgensen, Richie Worrall, Josh Pickering, Nicolai Klindt, Frederik Jakobsen, Jason Edwards.

BELLE VUE: Brady Kurtz, Charles Wright R/R, Matej Zagar, Tom Brennan, Robert Lambert, Norick Blodorn, Simon Lambert.
