SHEFFIELD v STARS, CUP FINAL PREVIEW

Tuesday November 01, 2022
KING’S Lynn head back to Sheffield on Wednesday (7.30pm) to complete their season in the second leg of the League Cup Final.

The Minors & Brady Stars are underdogs heading into the meeting as they face a 12-point deficit following a 51-39 defeat against the Tigers at the Adrian Flux Arena last month.

But they are still keen to put in a strong performance on the night, with permission having been granted to extend the season beyond the normal October 31 cut-off in order to have the silverware decided on-track if at all possible.

The November date does, however, mean both teams are forced into two changes due to rider unavailability.

Stars travel without skipper Josh Pickering and Nicolai Klindt, and will operate rider replacement for the Dane with league title winner Tom Brennan of Belle Vue stepping in for Pickering.

Sheffield No.1 Jack Holder is replaced by Sam Masters, and the Tigers bring in James Wright at reserve to stand in for Justin Sedgmen.

Stars manager Alex Brady said: “In the two meetings we’ve had up there this year, I suppose you can describe us as ‘consistently inconsistent.’

“The first time we went up there, a few of the riders went brilliantly and a couple didn’t go quite so well, and the second time it was a role reversal!

“If we can get it right on the night, we can win there, but obviously 12 points is a difficult margin to turn around. We’ll go there, give it everything we can, and see where it takes us.”

SHEFFIELD: Sam Masters, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Tobiasz Musielak, James Wright, Connor Mountain.
KING'S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Tom Brennan, Richie Worrall, Thomas Jorgensen, Nicolai Klindt R/R, Frederik Jakobsen, Jason Edwards.
