STARS READY FOR BONANZA

Friday March 24, 2023
KING’S Lynn open the 2023 season with a terrific evening of racing in prospect in the Ben Fund Bonanza on Saturday (5pm).

The Adrian Flux Arena stages the prestigious fund-raising event for the second time, and a packed schedule is promised both on and off the track.

A full 16-rider Individual meeting is the main focus of the meeting, which raises vital funds for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund in order that they can assist riders unfortunate to suffer injuries when racing. Total donations in 2022 totalled nearly £50,000.

The MacInnes Stars will be represented by Michael Palm Toft and Rising Star Jason Edwards, the latter stepping into the meeting because Krzysztof Kasprzak is now required by his Polish club, a possibility he made known to organisers when he agreed to take part.

KK will be back at King’s Lynn next week for press and practice on Tuesday and the opening meeting against Sheffield on Thursday.

Elsewhere in the line-up, GP star Fredrik Lindgren and his Swedish colleague Jacob Thorssell both make welcome UK appearances, whilst Ben Barker continues his ever-present record in the event.

There will also be some of the top youngsters from the British Youth series on track in both 125cc and 250cc categories, plus the ever-popular Veterans.

A post-meeting auction of memorabilia includes the race-jackets from the event, Stars rider Nicolai Klindt’s kevlars from last season, and a number of framed photographs and pictures.

Former Mildenhall rider Carl Baldwin is the special guest of the SRBF as he continues to fight back from a stroke suffered in 2018.

Gates open at the Adrian Flux Arena at 3.30pm, with the meeting getting underway at 5pm. Admission prices: Adults £22, OAPs/Students £20, Children (5-16) £5, Under-5s Free. Programme: £4.
