KING’S Lynn return to action on Monday after a fortnight’s break when they make the trip to the National Speedway Stadium to face Belle Vue (7.30pm).

The PSH Environmental Stars haven’t raced as a team since the abandoned fixture at Ipswich on Bank Holiday Monday when the weather prevented any more than ten races taking place, with the next two home meetings being postponed.

They now head to Manchester for what is a re-arranged fixture in itself, as the meeting was initially due to take place in mid-April.

The re-staging date does mean the Stars line up without Benjamin Basso, as the young Dane is competing in a World Championship qualifier at Hungarian venue Debrecen.

Former Stars No.1 Richard Lawson comes in to guest, whilst another change has been required due to the absence of injured captain Tobiasz Musielak.

The Stars had booked Josh Pickering to guest, but the Australian crashed at Edinburgh on Friday and is now awaiting news on the extent of a shoulder injury.

Attempts to source a suitable alternative replacement have proved unsuccessful and the Stars will therefore operate the rider replacement facility for Musielak, meaning all members of the team are entitled to an additional ride.

Belle Vue have been typically strong at home so far this season, regularly notching scores in excess of 50, although Oxford put in a stubborn effort at the NSS last week before fading in the closing stages to a 51-39 result.

The Aces are led by their star duo of Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley whilst winter signing Ben Cook has impressed in recent weeks and former Lynn rider Connor Mountain is doing a solid job at reserve.

Stars operations manager Dale Allitt said: “It’s not an ideal situation, we were pleased to have Josh and Richard as guests, but then Josh’s injury on Friday made things difficult.

“We’ve been through a number of potential replacements but with this meeting falling on the day of the World Championship qualifiers there are several who are ruled out for that reason, and others who can’t do it for various reasons.

“We do have riders who like Belle Vue and have gone well there in the past, and we felt r/r was the strongest option open to us. It’s not going to be easy at all, but the boys will go with a positive attitude and see what we can do.”
