KING’S Lynn’s new Rising Star Ashton Boughen had a fortunate escape after crashing out of Saturday’s Test Match in California.
The 17-year-old was racing for Great Britain, who recorded a 55-35 win against the USA in the first international clash between the nations on American soil.
However, Boughen required a hospital trip after a hard fall in Heat 14 when he came to grief on the fourth bend, with concussion being the major damage.
He said: “Not the way I wanted the races to go here in the States!
“(To have) two crashes wasn’t planned, but thankful I have no broken bones – concussed with a battered body and a few hours in hospital.
“Massive thanks to all the pit crew who helped me at the races from USA, and thanks to GB Speedway Team for giving me this opportunity.”
