KING’S Lynn have a big incentive to keep their winning run going when they host Ipswich in a big local derby at the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday (7.30pm).
The PSH Environmental Stars have been successful in their last three matches in all competitions, which started when they defeated the Witches in the first leg of their KO Cup semi-final at the beginning of the month.
Last week was a highly productive one for the Stars in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership as they collected the maximum five points available from matches at home to Birmingham and away at Oxford.
That means a home win over the Witches will take them to within three points of fourth-placed Leicester, who are not in action on Monday.
The Cup tie against Ipswich was a typically hard-fought encounter but the Stars will take confidence from the 48-42 result in that meeting, which ended the Witches’ run of success at the AFA.
However, the Suffolk side are expected to welcome back one of their recently injured duo as former World Champion Jason Doyle is declared their line-up at No.5.
Doyle has been ruled out with a hip injury since two crashes in quick succession in Poland last month, but he rode in both rounds of the Grand Prix double-header at Belle Vue over the weekend.
The Witches are still without flying reserve Dan Thompson and have called up former Stars rider Connor Mountain, who rode for the club as Rising Star in 2021, to guest.
Lynn once again bring in Oxford’s Peter Kildemand to guest for Ben Cook, who is having his first competitive outing in two months in Poland on Sunday following his long-term wrist injury.
However, the club are understanding of the fact that two meetings in successive days would put too much strain on the injury, and they will await further fitness reports with Cook hopefully back for the Stars later this month.
Meanwhile after his impressive showing at Oxford last Thursday, Young Stars captain Jody Scott again lines up at reserve for his senior home debut.
Manager Rob Lyon said: “We’re looking forward to it, and I’m sure it will be a great meeting.
“It’s all about what we do, we’ve got the riders to do it, and I think we showed that against Oxford.
“There’s quite a way to go yet in the season, we’re not yet halfway through, so there’s a lot of speedway to race yet. There will be a number of big matches and this is one of them that we definitely want to win.
“Jody is looking forward to his home debut and I’m really looking forward to watching him.
“He’s probably coming up against the strongest Rising Star in Jordan Jenkins, but we saw on Thursday how determined he is, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he picked up some points.”
