KING’S Lynn bid to build on their excellent momentum over recent weeks when they head to Sheffield in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership on Thursday (7.30pm).
The PSH Environmental Stars have won their last four matches in all competitions, including Monday’s terrific home victory over local rivals Ipswich which brought them right back into play-off contention.
The trip to Owlerton marks the halfway point of their league campaign, and it is the first of two tough away meetings in succession as they also visit Belle Vue next Monday.
Both Northern meetings back in early April resulted in 57-33 defeats for the Stars but on current form they should be capable of far better this time around.
Sheffield have kept themselves amongst the Premiership pace-setters despite a run of away matches, with postponements at home meaning they have not raced on their own track since mid-May.
The Tigers were disappointing at Leicester last Monday when they went down 56-34 but they responded by running Ipswich close at Foxhall 72 hours later before racing to an emphatic 57-33 win at bottom club Birmingham earlier this week.
But they will be without skipper Josh Pickering who is sidelined with a shoulder injury, rider replacement to cover, whilst Anders Rowe is back after missing their last two matches.
The Stars operate rider replacement for Ben Cook, who is expected back in the team at Belle Vue on Monday, whilst Luke Harrison takes over Rising Star duties on a track he has experience of in the National Development League.
Stars manager Rob Lyon said: “Sheffield have had a few problems of their own lately, and we need to go there and put on a performance.
“We’ve got an open mind going there now, and we’re looking forward to it.
“Sheffield is a difficult track to go to and they are very good at home, as they’ve proved all year, but you never know in speedway – we might cause a shock!”
