BEN COOK UPDATE

Sunday July 13, 2025
BEN Cook has explained the reasons why he has to sit out King's Lynn's upcoming schedule of meetings.

The Australian suffered a complicated wrist injury back in April and although he is now back racing, the nature of UK tracks means he cannot comfortably handle the bike in this country.

He scored double figures on the smooth Belle Vue circuit last month, but the problems were clearly apparent at Birmingham a fortnight ago when Cook was leading Heat 7 only for the undulations in the Perry Barr track to throw him off course and force his retirement from the race.

Cook said: "Unfortunately, I've had to make the difficult decision to take a step back from my UK racing commitments for the time being, due to ongoing issues with my injury.

"The tracks in the UK are extremely technical, and unfortunately, they don't suit the current state of my injury.

"Despite returning earlier for the Birmingham meeting, this then confirmed my frustrating situation with the injury "" that it wasn't up to the standards required for the more physical conditions.

"This has been entirely my own decision with no outside pressure. The injury I sustained is far more complex than most people know, and than what was originally announced in the media.

"I really appreciate the support from the King's Lynn management throughout the injury process. They have been very understanding that I don't want to let the team down but want to come back and perform at the level I know I'm capable of.

"It's been a frustrating and difficult season, but I'll be back!"
