KING'S Lynn are delighted to welcome 13-year-old Kane Newby as mascot for the Young Stars this season.
Lincolnshire-based Newby has been involved in the British Youth series since 2023 and currently competes in the 250cc category, although he was unfortunate to suffer a broken collarbone last June which restricted his involvement to the first and last rounds.
He will be a regular at the Adrian Flux Arena for Young Stars matches this season and will be taking laps of the circuit ahead of the racing.
Kane said: "I'm very happy to be asked to be King's Lynn Young Stars mascot for the 2026 season. A big thanks to Jason (Pipe) for inviting me.
"King's Lynn is a local track for me, and I've been following the Stars for many years.
"I'm looking forward to the 2026 season and feeling good on my 250. I'm hoping to become British Youth 250cc Champion this year."
Young Stars manager Jason Pipe said: "Kane is a rider who I got to know earlier in 2025, at Amateur meetings at Scunthorpe and also at private hire days I did at Leicester and Scunthorpe before the season started.
"I was really impressed by him and I was looking forward to watching him in the British Youth rounds, but unfortunately he broke his collarbone. Thankfully Kane is fully fit and raring to go for the 2026 season.
"He was a regular watcher at our Young Stars home meetings last season and I could see how interested he was in the team. So now he gets the opportunity to get closer to the riders and be involved with us.
"Kane will go out for four laps before the start of a Young Stars home meeting and then again for four laps after the meeting, before the victory parade. He'll also lead the team out on to the track on the parade lap before a meeting.
"He will be 15 on April 16, 2027 so that will make him eligible for the 2027 NDL season. I'd like to think that would be with the Young Stars, but that will be left to Kane to decide nearer the time!
"In the meantime it's just about going out on the Lynn track and doing some demonstration laps and enjoy riding the track."
Kane takes over the mascot role from Oliver Bovingdon, who has a big year ahead both with his education and racing abroad.
Pipe added: "I'd like to thank Oliver and his father Chris. It's not really viable for him this year because of midweek home meetings with them living in Somerset, Oliver still being at school, Chris working full-time and them having some racing commitments in Europe.
"In the end we had to look at it sensibly and we agreed that it would be a better idea to have someone do the mascot role who was based more local and is able to do all the home meetings.
"I'd like to wish Oliver all the very best for the 2026 season. He will be 15 on February 15, 2027 and is another rider who can make his NDL debut next year.
"I'd love that to be with us at King's Lynn, but we'll have to see nearer the time what's best for Oliver."
