KING'S Lynn have added 16-year-old Dylan Huthwaite to their Young Stars set-up in an unofficial No.8 capacity.
Local youngster Huthwaite will be the Young Stars' first port of call should they need a rider to stand in at reserve during the National Development League season.
Manager Jason Pipe explained: "Dylan is not tied to us, but he's part of the group and if we need a rider to fill in at reserve then Dylan will step in, unless he's in another one-to-seven elsewhere.
"Dylan is also another local rider and good friends with most of the other riders in the team, so he fits in well and is a member in our riders' group chat. Him being part of our set-up is keeping the focus mainly on local riders.
"Dylan was also more in the background of the team in 2025, but he wasn't quite ready to step up into a team at NDL standard, although he did pick up a couple of guest bookings at the back end of the season.
"He is a very good grasstrack rider and he's now having to change and adapt to the way in which he rides a speedway bike compared to a grasstrack bike. Some riders can easily adapt and some do struggle, and when it becomes like that, a rider has to then decide, do they concentrate a lot more on speedway or do they forget about speedway and just stick to the grass?
"The season ahead will see which way Dylan wants to go with his two-wheeled racing and he will be given whatever help he can by our team and especially from Simon (Lambert).
"Dylan has got the ability to become a good speedway rider in time and if he doesn't rush things and listens to the right people, then I'm sure he'll enjoy being a speedway rider. I do have to stress that he needs to listen to the right people, and I'm sure he will.
"It's going to be great to have Dylan with us as part of our set-up. But I do have to say, Dylan will get some guest bookings this season in the NDL, because he is maybe one of only four riders out there at the moment, who are going to be asked to ride for a team if they need a 2.00 point unattached rider to fill in. So I'm sure Dylan will get plenty of track time in NDL meetings in the season ahead.
"Dylan and his dad Mike are both lovely people and have the right attitude in which they have approached and are approaching this sport, and are happy to travel anywhere in the country to get rides. Dylan has an understanding school, which helps when these young riders need time off school to race.
"He will again be riding in the British Youth 500cc class in 2026 and he will attend our home meetings and possibly some aways to, to support the riders on a race day in the pits. He's also going to be tutored by Simon Lambert when possible.
"Dylan will have a similar role to which Kenzie Cossey had with us in 2025, where Kenzie ended up racing in two of our meetings. The plan is to get Dylan going quicker and learn from others and one day in the future, be able to put on a King's Lynn race bib."
