KING’S Lynn return to action for the first time in three weeks when they host Leicester in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership on Monday (7.30pm).
The PSH Environmental Stars’ last outing at the Adrian Flux Arena was back on May 11 when they lost out to Belle Vue, and that was a performance which left them requiring something of a reset.
They now head into a big week with potential points on the table not just against the Lions but also on Thursday when they head back to Northampton in league action.
The Stars name a full-strength line-up but manager Rob Lyon has elected to switch his riding order with skipper Chris Harris moving to No.5 whilst Jan Kvech goes to No.3 to form a new combination with Ben Cook.
Harris goes into the meeting boosted by a successful run of results elsewhere, including in Saturday’s World Championship Qualifier at Glasgow where he secured a place in the Grand Prix Challenge – putting him potentially five rides away from a sensational return to the sport’s top table in 2027.
Meanwhile Leicester are without two of their regular riders due to injury as Dan Thompson is not yet ready to resume after a broken collarbone, whilst Kyle Howarth suffered concussion in a crash on Thursday and is ruled out for nine days.
Howarth drops to reserve as from Monday with new averages in force, and the Lions have booked Oxford’s talented young Australian Mitch McDiarmid to guest.
Rider replacement will be in operation for Thompson, with Leicester also switching their riding order as Thompson’s rides will be covered at No.5.
Stars No.1 Max Fricke goes up against his former club, with his successor in that role for the Lions, Ryan Douglas, very much one of the Premiership’s in-form riders at this stage of the season.
Lyon said: “We’ve been rained-off in our last two matches, and now we need to have a reset and get back to winning speedway matches.
“We weren’t good enough at Belle Vue, which wasn’t acceptable to anyone, and we need to be much better if we’re going to have any aspirations of at least reaching the play-offs.
“We also have to start getting out of the gate on a consistent basis. As a team so far we have not been able to consistently make starts, which is a complete mystery to me, and that has been the case whether we’ve been at home or away.”
