FORMER King’s Lynn rider Ashton Boughen continues his bid for the FIM Flat Track World Championship when the series comes to the Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday (7pm).

Boughen, who rode for the PSH Environmental Stars last season, switched disciplines over the winter to join the new factory Ducati team in the Flat Track series.

The move has proved to be a success as Boughen stunned the establishment by winning the opening two rounds of the series, whilst his team-mate Tim Neave won the next two.

A third Great Britain rider, Jack Bell (Triumph), won Round 5 in Germany last weekend so GB riders are dominating the series and one seems likely to be crowned World Champion.

With five rounds remaining, Neave leads the standings on 109 points with Boughen on 104 and Bell on 91.

Neave finished third at King’s Lynn two years ago, the last time the event was staged at the AFA, whilst the top two from that meeting, Sammy Halbert and current World Champion Ervin Krajcovic, are also racing on Saturday.

Boughen said: “My first year in Flat Track has been very good so far. I’m currently second in the World Championship after winning the first two rounds.

“I couldn’t have asked for any better, and let’s see how the rest of the year goes – hopefully I can win the Championship.

“It will be nice to come to my home track for one of the rounds, and it would be good to get the fans here to watch.

“It’s something different for them and there will be some good racing. Hopefully we can put on a show, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Flat Track is a spectacular emerging discipline where the qualifying races involve eight riders and take place over eight laps. The Final features 12 riders and runs over 12 laps.

It’s part of a big weekend of motorsport at the venue as there is also sidecar action on Sunday (1pm) with the Kings of King’s Lynn event.
