JACK Bell led a Great Britain one-two in a dramatic weather-affected FIM Flat Track World Championship round at the Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday.

Triumph rider Bell had notched his first victory in the series at Scheessel one week earlier, and this time he headed fellow countryman Thomas Hunt with former champion Gerard Bailo in third place.

Bell’s hard-fought race win over Hunt in Heat 12 proved crucial as it turned out to be the final action of the meeting as heavy rain moved back in forcing the cancellation of the Last Chance and the Final.

Conditions played a part throughout with a two-hour delay to the start as track staff worked wonders to get the event on following heavy rain throughout the afternoon.

And the dominance of the Ducati team from earlier in the series came to an end with both Tim Neave and Ashton Boughen hitting trouble.

Neave suffered a costly fall in his final ride which left him placed fifth overall on the night, although it still meant he extended his championship lead to nine points.

For ex-Stars rider Boughen, the night began to turn sour in Heat 9 which he was leading comfortably until a clash between Bell and Gary Birtwistle caused a race stoppage.

Boughen was at the front of the grid for the re-run but was sent to the back after jumping the start, and he could only work his way through to sixth place.

Worse was to follow in Heat 11 when he again transgressed at the start, this time from the inside of the front row, and as it was a second offence he was disqualified.

That would have left him facing a huge task in the Last Chance to even make the Final, but the early abandonment left him with just four championship points compared to the 25 and 16 scored by his title rivals Bell and Neave.

Neave leads the series on 125 points with Bell on 116 and Boughen on 108, followed by Bailo on 105 and defending champion Ervin Krajcovic on 102.

There are four rounds remaining in the series, which continues at Hungarian venue Vasad on September 12.
