KING’S LYNN will stage their final two WSRA National Development League matches in a double header at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday September 16.

The Young Stars will first host title contenders Leicester with a 7pm start, and that match will be followed by the visit of Middlesbrough.

The club are also pleased to confirm Dan Gilkes will come into the side for that meeting, following his recovery from a broken collarbone.

Gilkes had actually agreed a deal with the Young Stars one day before suffering the injury, and the club will honour that agreement with Edward Kennett released.

Manager Jason Pipe said: “Dan has kept in touch throughout his recovery. A couple of weeks ago he had a hospital appointment, and after further x-rays and a check-up the doctors were happy with his progress and Dan relayed this news back to me.

“I’ve kept my promise to Dan of a team spot once he was fit again and I’m absolutely delighted that he’s coming into the side for our final three meetings of the season. It now looks like our strongest team of the season on paper, and it’s just a shame we only have three meetings of the season left.

“This now hopefully makes us look much more of an attractive team and a more competitive team, with our own riders, rather than using guests or rider replacement.

“I know it’s given the rest of the team a huge boost, having Dan coming into the side and we now go into our remaining few meetings with positive minds and hopefully we can pick up some points and avoid that wooden spoon.

“I’d like to thank Eddie for coming in to cover for Dan whilst we were waiting for Dan to declare himself fit to ride again. Eddie knew he was only in the 1-7 until Dan was ready to return.

“Dan will be getting in some practice laps in between now and the build-up to our double header at King’s Lynn in a couple of weeks’ time, when he will be fit and ready to go.

“Because Dan hasn’t raced in the NDL for a while, he comes in on a 9.14 average, which is his September Championship average of 4.57 doubled. Dan will come into the side at either No.3 or No.4, with Simon Lambert staying at No.1 on his 9.87 average and Jake Mulford at No.5 on his 8.14 average.”

In addition to the double header, the Young Stars have one more match remaining which is the away trip to Leicester.

A new date is awaited for that meeting, which was to take place this Sunday but now needs to be rescheduled due to the Lions’ Premiership commitments.
