FORMER England international Richard Knight has labelled King’s Lynn ‘home’.
Knight raced for Mildenhall, Ipswich and Berwick but spent six seasons with the Stars and made over 200 appearances for the club.
He also appeared in six British Finals and made the 1990 World Final at Bradford.
But despite travelling around many tracks he has revealed how he always felt most at home riding around the Adrian Flux Arena – known as Saddlebow Road during his career.
He said: “Although I never won anything with King’s Lynn it has always kind of been home because I went to the World Final while I was riding for the club.
“We had some great times riding for Lynn despite not winning any trophies. It was always my favourite track because it really was a track that you could get out and race.”
And he’s revealed how none of this would have been possible without the devotion of wife, Anne.
“My wife has always travelled the world with me and she has always been by my side,” he said.
“We used to go to South Africa every winter and I rode out there before coming back here for the British season.
“None of this would have been the same without Anne because if you have got someone in life who understands you, it puts you in the right mindset and I know I wouldn’t have been as successful if I wasn’t married to her.”
King’s Lynn fans should know soon whether any league racing will be possible this year with the clock ticking.
The general feeling throughout the sport seems to be if an August start isn’t possible then it will be too late with any season ending on October 31.
Minors and Brady Stars man Robert Lambert, meanwhile, is continuing his fine form in Poland both in league racing and the European Championship.
With the relaxation of quarantine rules, however, it means he would be available to commute back to Lynn for league action.
