KERR AIMING FOR NATIONAL GLORY

Friday September 11, 2020
KING’S Lynn favourite Lewis Kerr will go for national glory in the British Final later this month.

He’ll be Lynn’s sole representative in the showpiece event as Robert Lambert and Craig Cook are unavailable to compete.

Kerr is ‘made up’ about the event going ahead at Ipswich on Saturday September 26 (7.30).

The meeting has been approved as a government pilot event to reintroduce spectators to sporting stadia and tickets have sold out following the government decision to reduce numbers to 1,000.

Eurosport’s new five year deal with the sport has been put back a year to 2021 following the scrapping of the entire 2020 league season which sadly means it won't be on TV.

Said Kerr: “I’m absolutely made up, not only for us riders getting a meeting in but for the fans,” he said.

“It’s a real bonus for them in these terrible times to not only get some racing to watch, but a prestigious event like the British Final. I’ll go there and give it my all.”

Stars co-promoter Dale Allitt said: “Obviously it’s a shame Robert can’t make it to try and win back the title he won two years ago but I still expect Lewi to be in with a chance of making the final.

“He’s a determined character and he would love to bring the British title back to King’s Lynn.

“It’s great for the sport to have the British Final and we were delighted to host the British Youth Championship recently, proving that our venue is suitable for covid secure spectator events.

“I expect Ipswich to be very much the same and I’m sure it will be a great night of racing with the national title on the line. With the riders having little or no track time it’s going to be a leveller.”
