SHEFFIELD v STARS, PREVIEW

Wednesday September 14, 2022
KING’S Lynn return to a full one-to-seven for their Premiership trip to Sheffield on Thursday (7.30pm).

The Minors & Brady Stars saw their outside hopes of reaching the play-offs ended by a home defeat against the Tigers last week – but there is still plenty of incentive to end the league season on a high.

Danish star Frederik Jakobsen missed that meeting after a crash in Sweden 48 hours earlier but he is due back in the side at Owlerton, and Jason Edwards is also back alongside him at reserve after his own brief spell on the sidelines.

And although it’s the Stars’ final away match of the regular campaign, they know they have another trip to South Yorkshire still to come in the League Cup Final with dates for both legs to be confirmed.

Team boss Alex Brady had no excuses for last Thursday’s result, which cemented the Tigers’ play-off place, but is backing his side to still challenge for silverware over the coming weeks.

“Sometimes you have to hold up your hands and accept you were beaten by the better team,” said Brady.

“They performed as a unit much better than we did. There were some good individual performances with Thomas (Jorgensen), Nicolai (Klindt) and Rich (Lawson) but there was not enough back-up.

“When you are up against a team as strong as Sheffield’s, you need everyone to be on it, and we were not.

“It was disappointing, but now it is all about performing to the best of our ability to gain some momentum to go into the League Cup final.

“We want to finish as positively as possible and give the fans plenty to shout about, hopefully beginning with a good performance up at Sheffield.”
