BARKER ADDED TO BONANZA FIELD

Wednesday March 08, 2023
FORMER King’s Lynn rider Ben Barker will keep up his ever-present record in the Ben Fund Bonanza when he races at the Adrian Flux Arena on March 25 (5pm).

Barker has ridden in all 12 previous Bonanzas, winning the event at Birmingham in 2012, and he finished fourth last year at Peterborough.

He rode for the Stars in the Premiership in 2021, and is preparing for the new season with Plymouth in the Championship.

Barker said: “I don’t even need to be asked, I’ll always be there. I love the track there (King’s Lynn) and I’ve ridden for them, it’s good for me.

“I’ve got a couple of new engines and I think I’m set up better for the season than I have been for some time. I felt I was going well last season too, prior to my suspension.”

“I’d like to get back into the Premiership and I’ll be trying to show good form right from the start of the season.

“As we all know injuries do happen though we don’t want them to, and there will be places available in the Premiership eventually.

“The Ben Fund has certainly helped me in previous seasons and I’m always happy to give something back.

“I’m signing up for the 2024 London Marathon which I will use to raise money and donate to the Ben Fund., I would have done it this year but you have to be well in advance signing up.”

There are still sponsorship opportunities at various levels for the Bonanza, plus places for Meeting Mascots (£40) and an auction for a chance to work with meeting referee Tony Steele. For these, email benfundbonanza@yahoo.com .

ANNOUNCED FOR THE BONANZA: Freddie Lindgren, Simon Lambert, Danny King, Connor Mountain, Lewis Kerr, Michael Palm Toft, Steve Worrall, Charles Wright, Tom Brennan, Kyle Howarth, Richie Worrall, Ben Barker.
